Under the Sun's Gaze
UNDER THE SUN'S GAZE
I am alive,
Even though few know what that means.
I am alive,
Breathing the air of another day.
Even looking in the mirror
And seeing the wear and fatigue
Of what once was a defenseless face.
I am alive
And I set out to live until the last days.
In this present body,
Under a punishing yet comforting sun,
With clouds that swiftly pass by in the sky,
I am living the pleasures and pains,
From bitterness to the sweetness of honey.
My feet have walked on asphalt,
My pockets are empty of any coins,
And the light moves forward and beside me.
I am far away and keep myself isolated,
Meditating on the golden mantra
And yet I still see myself fatigued.
For the crimes I have committed,
For the weight I carry within me,
I am slowly letting myself depart.
I am alive,
I am here on the path to redeem myself,
I watch sadness emerge,
Joy is smiling from afar.
And life comes to divide me,
For the little I have,
For the much I no longer obtain,
I am free to feel
Open to acquire
And hopeful for the path I chose to follow.
